CERAWeek is one of those events that has a way of galvanizing the energy of an entire global industry into a single city block. The industry of molecules and electrons that power modern civilization is grappling with the complexity of context: ruptures in geopolitics, the juggernaut of AI, and energy transition in the midst of energy addition.
Houston in March; the halls are buzzing with policymakers, technologists, investors, and operators, all asking versions of the same question: how do we actually do this?
This year, Utility Global showed up with an answer in this powerful discourse.
Our CEO and President, Parker Meeks, joined the conversation in two rooms where the right people were asking the right questions. First at Aramco House, and then at the Agora Innovation Pod, where he was joined by our Chief Commercial Officer, Dr. Vladimir Novak. The topic: Economic Decarbonization of Existing Refining and Petrochemical Assets and Products which, if you know Utility Global, is exactly where we live.
The Conversation the Industry Needed
There’s a moment in any dynamic market when the conversation shifts from whether to how. That shift was unmistakable at CERAWeek this year. The questions coming from the floor weren’t about whether refineries and petrochemical plants need to decarbonize, they were about how to do it without shutting down, without writing off billions of dollars in existing infrastructure, and without waiting another decade for the economics to pencil out.
H2Gen® was built to solve this very problem; fit for purpose.
Parker’s sessions drew a clear distinction between decarbonization approaches that are compelling in theory, and those that deliver in real-world industrial operations. The message resonated because it was grounded in engineering and economic reality, not aspiration.
Utility is a Team Sport
Beyond the formal sessions, the week was a reminder of what this team can do when it’s in the room together. From early morning logistics to late-night conversations with partners and investors, the Utility Global presence at CERAWeek was cohesive, confident, and, if we’re being honest, a lot of fun.
It was truly rewarding to see a strong team presence across the spectrum of events during CERAWeek.
Aside from his speaking and media interview duties, CEO and President Parker Meeks represented our company in C-suite agenda setting leadership discussions at the Executive Conference.
Chief Commercial Officer Dr. Vladimir Novak and Advisor to the Board and downstream oil & gas guru Eric Duchesne engaged with sector leaders at the World Petroleum Conference, while VP Business Development Mike Ianelli, and VP Strategic Partnerships Philip Sohn progressed our global customer, partnership and project ecosystem relationships at Innovation Agora.
We were shepherded by Director of Marketing & Communications Susan Sohn, and Sr. Manager of Marketing & Communications Jenna Marston, who ensured our speaking sessions, media interviews, meeting engagements and brand presence was maximized across the week.
We are grateful to Ara Partners, in being one of their portfolio companies represented at their Networking Reception attended by our esteemed guests.
A Week that Accelerated our Speed to Scale
There’s something energizing about standing in a crowd of thousands of people wrestling with the hardest problems in energy transition and knowing that your company is sitting at the center of one of the most practical solutions on offer.
Our leadership team experienced some true breakthrough moments, where our value proposition was exactly what was needed; a key to enable customers to achieve economic, dare we say, profitable true decarbonization of their core assets.
We are leaving CERAWeek with new conversations started, existing relationships deepened, and a clearer sense that the market is catching up to what we’ve been building.
What's Next
CERAWeek is a starting line, not a finish line. The conversations that begin in those corridors are the ones that become partnerships and projects. We’re following up on every one of them.
If you were at CERAWeek and connected with Parker or Vladimir or if you missed us and want to continue the conversation, we’d love to hear from you.
About Utility Global
Utility delivers practical solutions that enable economic industrial decarbonization across hard-to-abate sectors including steel, mobility, refining, chemicals, and upstream oil & gas.
